In 2017, we focused on intentional growth. We shared the gleaning model with communities in 15 different counties. We established regularly scheduled gleaning trips in 3 additional counties to increase the predictability of our services. We sought out recipients in communities where we only had sources of produce to ensure that local food fed local people.
567 volunteers joined us in this effort in 2017 and in 2018, we will be investing in them. We are committing to engage our neighbors in this work, building communities of volunteers across Central Kentucky so that fresh produce doesn’t go to waste while people go hungry. We want to see gleaners in every county in Central Kentucky play a role in our simple and tangible mission.
