After much thought, I’ve decided to transition out of my role as Glean Kentucky’s Executive Director over the coming months. I’ve now spent nearly nine years with Glean Kentucky, as Development Director, then Program Director, before serving the last two years as Executive Director, and have found this work intensely meaningful and rewarding.

Knowing the progress we’ve achieved during that time, I’m extremely proud of what we’ve accomplished. I’ve had the privilege of working closely with hundreds of our hard-working volunteers, produce growers, and recipient agencies – whether gleaning apples at Reed Valley Orchard, picking up grocery excess from Good Foods Co-Op, or making the rounds at any number of farmers markets throughout the state, I’ve loved getting to surround myself with people who care deeply about feeding their fellow Kentuckians.

I’ve begun working with our board and staff to handle this transition, and have assembled a hiring committee to help manage the search for a new Executive Director. I’m also looking forward to working alongside this person to ensure they have all the tools, contacts, and resources they need to move the organization forward. We intend to have my successor selected by early November – please look for a posting about the job early next week. I’m confident that Glean Kentucky’s future is in the great hands of our existing staff, board, and volunteers. I’m forever grateful for the incredible people I’ve had the privilege of working alongside, and am excited to see what the organization’s future holds.

Thank you for being part of our work, and for all you do to advance Glean Kentucky’s mission of reducing food insecurity and food waste in the commonwealth.

Thanks always,
