Hey everyone!
My name is Gaby Gonzalez and I’m thrilled to welcome you to my first official post as Glean
Kentucky’s new development assistant! *Cue Airhorns*
To give you some background on me, I’ve actually been with Glean Kentucky for about a year
now. I first started with the organization in November of 2021 as the grants coordinator VISTA.
My year as a VISTA was truly an invaluable experience – I have since gained so much insight on
the various food resources in our community as well as learned more about the nonprofit world
in general. I’ve had the opportunity to make connections with some fantastic people doing great
work for the Commonwealth all while doing my part to help. This past year has not only shown
me that I’m right where I need to be, but it also helped me unlock a passion for nonprofit
development. I’m excited to see where this new path takes me, and I can’t wait to see what’s in
store for Glean Kentucky’s future as well.
In reflecting over the journey of the past year, I’m reminded of just how many changes have
happened within and around Glean Kentucky. Of course, with changes sometimes come
challenges. However, no challenge has proven too much for the Glean team. Our mission is
clear and the passion each person has for fighting hunger and food waste shows in the work we
do everyday. I could not have asked for a better group of people to work with or a finer
organization to be a part of. I am incredibly proud to be associated, let alone play a role in the
work Glean Kentucky does for the community. As we move into giving season and I’m reminded
of all there is to be thankful for, I am so grateful to have been welcomed with open arms into
such an amazing organization, both then as a VISTA and now into my new position in
development.
