McBrayer PLLC is Committed to Reducing Food Waste 

and Hunger in the Commonwealth

LEXINGTON, KY – McBrayer PLLC has committed $10,000 in fighting food waste and food insecurity in the Bluegrass. The firm has partnered with Glean Kentucky for its fourth year as a Nourish Partner, totaling $40,000 in contributions since 2020. Glean Kentucky has been blown away by the firm’s commitment to the community. Managing Member Jim Frazier, along with other McBrayer staff, presented a check to the organization on March 14.

Bekah Worster, Glean Kentucky’s Development Director, expressed the importance of another year with McBrayer PLLC, “Not only do they support our work financially, but many of their employees have been boots on the ground in rescuing fresh fruits and vegetables for local feeding programs. The time donated is priceless.” 

Glean Kentucky is celebrating its thirteenth year in the Commonwealth on March 20. Its mission is to gather and redistribute excess fresh fruits and vegetables to nourish Kentucky’s hungry. Staff and volunteers collect what would be wasted produce from grocery stores, farms, and orchards and donate it to agencies throughout the state. 

In 2022, Glean Kentucky rescued 157,566 pounds of nutritious food, delivering it to over 30 agencies throughout the state. Annually, forty percent of all food produced in the United States is wasted, while in Kentucky one in seven face food insecurity. To learn more about Glean Kentucky, visit gleanky.org.
