What is your name and what do you do?

My name is Bob Baney and I am the owner/partner of RaceRise. RaceRise is a Kentucky based timing and race management company that believes in giving back. Our Signature Races all benefit worthy local charities in Central Kentucky. The local running community has been very supportive and charitable. During 2017-2018 we’ve worked with and provided donations for the following local charities: On The Move Art Studio, Woodford Humane Society, Foster Care Council of Kentucky, Blue Grass Farms Charities, Nourish Your Neighborhood, Kentucky CancerLink, Salvation Army, Lexington Humane Society, Kentucky Blood Center, American Lung Association, Paris Animal Welfare Society, GleanKY, New Vocations Racehorse Adoption, Maker’s Mark Secretariat Center, God’s Pantry Food Bank, Kentucky Mountain Biking Association and more.

We like to think we add a little “heart and sole” to the running community by putting on family friendly fun races that create awareness and donate partial proceeds back to worthy causes. Making a difference and getting more people running and walking are important aspects of what we do. Come out and experience “The RaceRise Difference” or contact us if we can help your charity or non-profit orchestrate a 1st class healthy fundraising event.

What are some races that you coordinate?

Races we coordinate:  Frozen Rails 5K & 10K, Ernie’s Bacon Run 5K, Quarter Horse Marathon Relay, Horse Capital Marathon & Half Marathon, Lucky Leprechaun Half Marathon, 10 Miler & 5K, Dv8K Life Changing Run, Spindletop Stache & Ugly Sweater Dash, Dirty Dog Trail 4 Miler, Spooky Sprint 5K, Gobbler Half Marathon, 10K & 5K. What is the Gobbler?

The Gobbler is our Signature fall race which includes a Half Marathon, 10K and 5K distance so something for everyone.  The race is being held on Sunday, November 18, 2018 and will be run on scenic country roads through horse country.  We start and finish at Mereworth Farm in NW Fayette County.

How did the Gobbler come about?

I’ve always wanted to hold a fall half marathon in Lexington since founding RaceRise.  I approached GleanKY about partnering as our charity beneficiary because I had heard good things about the impact they were making in our community.  The rest is history, now we’re in our 3rd year!

What charities benefit from the race?

The Gobbler benefits two worthy local charities, GleanKY and New Vocations Horse Adoption.

What is it about GleanKY that resonates with you?

I like the whole concept of GleanKY and the way they are taking food that might otherwise be completely wasted and making it available to those in need in our community.
How do I sign up for the race?
Sign ups are taken online at www.GobblerHalfMarathon.com

How can people who support GleanKY, and are not runners, support the Gobbler this year?

Non runners can make a donation to GleanKY and/or New Vocations Horse Adoption through the donation button on the race website.
Also we welcome spectators to cheer on the runners and walkers as they complete their 13.1, 6.2 or 3.1 mile race journey.

Can other nonprofits or businesses approach RaceRise for help on creating a race?

We are always open to having conversations with other non profit organizations about how we might partner on fundraisers.
Our specialty it putting on first class race experiences to benefit worthy local charities.
