Faith Feeds will begin the 2011 gleaning season on Sunday, May 1, at the Lexington Farmers Market. Thereafter, we will be gleaning that market every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday until sometime in October or November (depending on the weather).
In June, we will add the Bluegrass Farmers Market and glean on Saturdays at the Richmond Road market and later in the season we will add the Boston Road location, also on Saturdays.
We’re looking for volunteers and ask that you consider whether you have time to donate.
Ideally, we’d like to establish a schedule where a particular faith community or individual gleans once per month on the same day: for example, last year, Maxwell Street Presbyterian Church gleaned on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Tuesdays of the month. Another way of looking at it would be to volunteer individually for just one day/month – maybe you want to be the gleaning volunteer on the 2nd Thursday of every month. And of course, if you can only make it on an ad hoc basis – that’s terrific too!
Please let us know if you’re willing to volunteer, and if so, on what days, etc. We will provide specific times and additional instructions.
Many thanks!
