Last year, the Franklin County ecumenical community learned about the wonderful work accomplished by GleanKY. We became involved and gleaned over 6,300 pounds of produce for Franklin County’s poor and hungry.
As a result of gleaning this season, it felt like Christmas morning at Frankfort’s Saint Vincent de Paul’s Food Pantry this Saturday morning. With the abundance of fresh lettuce gleaned from UK South Farm, the recipients overflowed with joyfulness and cheerfulness! The needy helped themselves to the abundance of commodities with infinite gratitude! Their appreciation makes the labors of harvesting and community organizing well worthwhile! I told them “God is good…all the time,” and they agreed!
