It’s difficult to believe, but 2024 is going by at such a rapid clip that we begin gleaning at Reed Valley Orchard next month!

Glean Kentucky has been partnering with Reed Valley Orchard and now Stepping Stone Farm, who took over management and operations of the orchard in 2022, for over a decade now to harvest windfallen apples.  The season typically starts a little slowly, with Glean Kentucky staff and a couple of individual volunteers going out to harvest apples on Friday mornings from the middle of August through the beginning of September.

Once September arrives, though, we’ll begin hosting volunteer groups every Friday morning through the first or second week of November depending on how long the apples keep coming!

We would love to host your group at the orchard this season.  We typically meet up at 8:45 am to beat the worst of the heat and gather apples until about 10:45 or 11:00 am.

Maximum group size is 20-25 people and we can accommodate smaller groups as well.  If your group is on the smaller side, we may pair you with another team to make sure that we have the capacity to collect every available apple.

Do you have a group that would like to come out to the orchard this fall?  Please reach out via email to me: jim@gleanky.org.

We look forward to working with you this fall!
