The Edible Garden Series will hold a seed starting workshop at Beaumont Presbyterian Church on Saturday 19 March from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. The workshop will also cover how to care for seedlings until they can be planted outside. Gardeners of all experience levels are welcome.
“Even with the length of our growing season, many vegetables perform better if planted as established seedlings,” said John Walker, founder and coordinator of the Edible Garden Series. “It’s worth the extra effort when you get the earlier yield and see how vigorous the plants are.” He added that beginning gardeners shouldn’t be intimidated by elaborate or expensive systems they may see on the market.
The Edible Garden Series meets about six times throughout the season and focuses especially on topics related to vegetable, fruit, and herb gardening. Registration is not required, and there is no cost to attend.
Beaumont Presbyterian Church is located at 1070 Lane Allen Road in Lexington. Parking and entrance to the fellowship hall are in the rear, off Athenia Drive.
