Glean Kentucky Celebrates Five Years of Support from McBrayer, PLLC
Lexington, Kentucky – October 10, 2024 – Glean Kentucky is proud to announce the fifth anniversary of its partnership with McBrayer, PLLC, amounting in a total of $50,000 in support from the firm over this time. This long-standing collaboration has been instrumental in Glean Kentucky’s growing work to address food insecurity and food waste throughout Kentucky.
“McBrayer’s support of our work these past five years has come at a time of great change and growth for our organization,” says Glean Kentucky’s Executive Director, Ben Southworth. “As we’ve worked to expand the impact of our work, our partnership with McBrayer has allowed us to serve more Kentuckians, in more parts of Kentucky, than ever before.”
Since the beginning of this partnership, Glean Kentucky has grown from an organization centered in Lexington, to one which serves the greater Central Kentucky region, and has established two new regions of service centered in Bowling Green and Oldham County. The organization has also heard from partners receiving produce that this work is vital to them – in a recent survey over 70% said they were able to serve more people, and 100% said they were able to increase the nutritional value of food served to those in need.
McBrayer has a commitment to the communities where they live and work – their attorneys and staff serve in many capacities on boards and as volunteers with schools, colleges, churches, community causes and nonprofit organizations. In addition to providing funding to Glean Kentucky during this time, McBrayer has been an annual participant in seasonal gleaning outings at Reed Valley Orchard, sending employees to volunteer alongside Glean Kentucky’s staff by picking windfall apples.
