Hey y’all!
My name is Meghan Kontic and I’m thrilled to be working with Glean Kentucky as the new North Central Field Coordinator!
For some background, I’m a transplant from Southern California—moving to Kentucky in 2020 to attend college. Throughout my four years here, I have fallen in love with the community and the beautiful environment we live in… and the rest is history!
While I have lived in suburbia my entire life, a part of me is always eager to learn more about where exactly our food comes from and helping build a stronger, more resilient and interconnected community. I served as a farm stewardship intern at my university, donating everything harvested to our food pantry to support the campus community—students, staff, and faculty alike! And I have helped at various community food distribution initiatives, spanning from within Louisville all the way out to Huntington, West Virginia and Washington, DC. Needless to say, helping combat food insecurity is very important to me, and it is a privilege to be able to serve the community with Glean Kentucky.
Outside of work, I am most likely to be out attending various neighborhood or stream cleanups, taking a dog out for the day from the humane society, or going hiking and enjoying nature’s finest!
I’m excited to get off the ground running to continue expanding the gleaning efforts within North Central Kentucky! If you have any questions about our mission or are interested in getting involved with our work, please feel free to reach out to me at [email protected].
