It has been a generous year full of fresh fruits and vegetables. We are thankful for the bountiful donations from vegetable and orchard farmers, grocery stores and our neighbors.
As we are closing in on the final farm and orchard gleanings, we begin to preserve some of the bountiful fall harvest. With the help of our gleaning volunteers, students from the Montesorri Middle School of KY, and new kitchen volunteers, we clean, roast, puree and season pumpkins into pie filling to freeze for use by local hunger ministries. Our pumpkins are gleaned from Reed Valley Orchard.
