July is a busy month for us here at Glean Kentucky. We are going through a staffing transition as I wrap up my time with Glean Kentucky and our wonderful new Field Coordinator, Jerilyn, transitions into her new role. In addition to this transition and our weekly gleaning opportunities at the Community Farmers Market, we have multiple events coming up in the next month.
The South Central Kentucky Advisory Council is meeting for the first time this month. This group includes farmers, a representative from one of our feeding agency partners, and volunteers. With their broad range of expertise and varied perspectives, our Council members will serve a vital role in advising the development of our program in the region. I look forward to seeing the impact that this group will have. If you are a resident of South Central Kentucky and are interested in participating in this initiative, it’s not too late to get involved! Send an email to both firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com to learn more.
After that, we will have a table set up at a fun event hosted by the Community Farmers Market. Night Y’all: A Celebration of National Farmers Market Week will take place from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on August 5th. We are in need of volunteers to help staff the table – if you’d like to help out, sign up for a shift on our Gleaning Calendar or let Jerilyn know if you have any questions! Even if you can’t volunteer, we invite you to stop by our table, say hi, and learn more about what we are doing in South Central Kentucky.
