Read Our 2020 Annual Report Here

Just like everybody, 2020 turned out differently than expected at Glean Kentucky. Around the time we had planned to hold an event celebrating 10 years of work, we were instead writing safety protocol for our gleaners and responding to the daily changes at our recipient agencies. Restaurants and hotels called us, donating food they’d otherwise have to abandon in their kitchens. And we worked alongside out longtime partners at FoodChain to deliver thousands of meals for kids out of school.

Despite these changes, we ended up accomplishing a lot of the things we had originally planned for. We launched a new region of service in South Central Kentucky, distributed Field Guides to all 120 counties in the commonwealth, and gleaned our two-millionth pound of produce, all-time. And of course, we maintained our partnerships with dozens of produce donors and recipient agencies, rescuing 227,224 pounds of fresh produce.

None of this would have been possible without our incredible community of supporters who stepped up in uncertain times to take care of their fellow Kentuckians. Thank you for being part of what we do – we’re excited to have you with us as our work continues to grow into the future.
