One in six Kentuckians live in some level of food insecurity – worrying at times where their next meal will come from.GleanKY works every day to gather excess fresh fruits and vegetables for distribution to over seventy local feeding programs in Central Kentucky, contributing to improved diets, nutrition, and quality of life of an estimated 50,000 Kentuckians over the course of a year.

During the holidays – a time of year where food means so much more to us all – we’re challenging our donors, volunteers, and supporters to picture their ‘plate without produce.’ How would our festive meals throughout November and December look and taste without fresh fruits and vegetables as a part of them?

GleanKY now gleans and distributes produce to programs in several Central Kentucky counties, averaging 40 gleaning trips per week during peak gleaning season. In order to see this work continue and grow, we need your support.

We’ll be participating in the 2017 Good Giving Guide Challenge from November 28 – December 31. Year after year, the incredible support we receive from the community during this event provides a sizable portion of our yearly operating income. Your support at this time ensures we spend as much time and energy as possible reducing food waste and providing fresh fruits and vegetables to our neighbors who need them most.
